Obama himself inserted race into the contest, and, I am quite certin that many, many people voted for him simply because the fact of his race made him an historic choice. (I do not say that to be derisive - a person's reason is their own, certainly not mine to judge.) I do agree that McCain is and was a class act - my tears came not upon realizing that Obama had won, but upon hearing McCain refer to him as "...my former opponent, my President." McCain understands better than most of us what it means to truly put Country First.
