The summer’s heating up for some great jazz! Gearing up for the sixth free Jazz
in July performance of the season, the Metro Arts Alliance is set to unleash
Janey Hooper and Susie Miget Project on Greenwood Park on the sixth.
Each year Metro Arts’ Jazz in July draws some 15,000 people to central Iowa
locations to enjoy the cool tones of area artists. Performers like Hooper and
Miget who are local jazz legends as well as Taz and Sam Salomone, also perennial
favorites.
2007’s concert schedule s no different and features performers covering the full
continuum of the jazz sound, including Dixieland, Big Band, Latin and Fusion
jazz. So, whether you like it smooth, cool or swinging, the metro has your jazz
with this sizzling summer line-up:

The July 27 event scheduled for Northland General Store has been relocated to the State Historical Building – 6th & E. Locust. The time has been changed, too, I believe, to 6 pm.
This was necessitated by a re-design of the use of space at Northland General. I had a shelf of my photo and other products there for a few months but pulled out at the end of May. Someone who contacted me for an item I had for sale at the store told me that all merchants were moving out. I confirmed this in July when I visited the site, but have no details why.
