Photos from the Flood in Des Moines

by Sandy Renshaw on June 13, 2008

Brenda Friedrich took time today to get some photos around Des Moines. There’s more flood photos on the city’s website. The City of Des Moines website has a lot of flood information.

Thanks, Jim! I should note that the deer photo was taken in my own back yard. The deer had wandered up our hill (which backs to the Des Moines River) and was soon munching on my recently-planted raspberry bushes! She was so skinny — and probably had been through so much, after all her home was flooded — that I decided to let her munch away. She needed the food more than I did. Fortunately, for me, she soon spotted some wild grapevines on my property — which grow like weeds — and moved on to them in short order. I hope they provided her with some sustanance to get her through these rough times.
