This is dedication!

Ed Fallon was campaigning on a very cold day in Des Moines! And he was outside some of the time. On Wednesday in temperatures well below zero he chose to walk a mile (rather than drive) to a campaign stop on the downtown transit mall. Why? He is dedicated to defeating incumbent Leonard Boswell in the Democratic Primary on June 3, 2008. Ed Fallon wants to serve our interests as U. S. Representative in the 3rd District of Iowa. I saw and heard him in Grinnell at noon Wednesday.
One of his points of emphasis: in all of his years of public legislative service to Iowa and in all of his campaigns including this one, he is refusing to accept money from PACs and lobbyists. I like that quality.
I asked Ed Fallon what he was reading. He is reading a book about Henry Wallace. He had recently finished As Sick as It Gets. When I told him I was reading Omnivore’s Dilemma, he recounted that he had also read that one. I’ve always figured that reading is more likely to make a person smarter than dumber, and that reminded me of Will Rogers. Will Rogers said a few things about reading - one of them “A man only learns in two ways, one by reading, and the other by association with smarter people.”
Billing himself as a progressive populist Ed was pleased to note that he has picked up an important endorsement from Democracy for America.
Check out what others are saying.
Will Rogers also said, “Never miss a good chance to shut up,” so I will. See ya.
